The Green River in Stillwater Canyon
This panorama of Stillwater Canyon was taken near the Willow Flat campground, in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park.
The Green River can be seen, flowing towards its confluence with the Colorado River 20 miles downstream. Soda Springs Basin occupies much of the foreground, while in the distance, Deadhorse Canyon snakes away towards the southwest.
Near the center of the photo, Turks Head mesa rises above a loop in the river. About two weeks before this panorama was taken, I had paddled past Turks Head on an extended canoe trip. The following photo was taken near the spot labeled "Green River" in the figure above.
